Dad's Workshop

(7/20/03)  Dad made this darning egg out of a small scrap from an old stair rail.  In case any of you are wondering, a darning egg is used to help someone mending socks or elbow and knee holes in clothes.

(3/9/03)  Most people leave an extra roll of toilet tissue on the back on the toilet in case someone runs out (as seen in the picture above).  However, Dad felt the need to build this beautiful cabinet to house 24 extra rolls.  Mom gets credit for the decorations on the shelves.
(2/28/03)  Here's a spice rack Dad made for Wayne.  He painted pictures of spices on the top and you can see the detail of one of the paintings above.  As you can see in the picture, Wayne has put it to use immediately.
Trellis Dad made out of cypress (2/9/2003) This is a trellis Dad made reusing some cypress that he got from Grandpop.  While a small structure, it took a considerable amount of time to measure and cut all the angles needed.  Also, if he had to buy it, there would be about $200 worth of cypress invested in this.
(1/20/02) Here's something Dad made called an Onit, meaning you can sit onit, you can stand onit, and you can iron onit. It's also called a bachelor's chair. Here you can see it in 2 of the 3 positions it folds into. In the third position, the ironing board folds down and you have a 3 step ladder.
(8/23/01) Here's a magazine rack Dad made for Wayne using wood from a poplar tree that fell a few years ago.
