Our Board of Directors

Foundress - Joan Masterson
Joan Masterson, our Foundress, is a writer and has worked at writing for the past 40 years. The gift of writing came naturally to her at age 19 and she spent decades honing the craft into a livelihood. Beginning as editor of the Sinclair Oil Corporation's in-house newspaper, she worked for almost every major corporation on both coasts, from Sears World Headquarters to the Boeing Company, where she wrote training courses for secretarial and administrative personnel. On Sabbatical for four years, she wrote nine fiction novels and various literary pieces as a diversion from corporate work. Her true love, however, is the craft of writing. Retired now, she hopes to teach writing not from a point of cookie-cutter instruction, but by generating the imagination techniques she has developed from experience within her career.

President - James Montgomery

Chairperson for the Funding Committee for Clover Cultural Center and past President of Rotary Club. James is an Assistant Vice President for the Merrill Lynch Company.

Vice-President - Janice Colvin

Janice Colvin is currently the editor of the Queen Anne's Record-Observer in Centreville. Prior to that assignment, she was community editor of The Star Democrat in Easton. Her background in publications extends back more than 20 years starting with her position on various student publications in high school and college. Janice serves on several boards and lives in Stevensville with her husband and two children. Mrs. Colvin holds a bachelor of science in journalism from the University of Maryland College Park and a master of arts in journalism and public affairs from the American University in Washington, D.C. She has won numerous awards for her writing including two Associated Press awards.

Treasurer - Joan Kay
And then we come to Joan Kay. Every organization needs the mother's touch. And Joan Kay is our mother. She raised four of her own children and then sought assisting other children by participating in federally-funded school programs. Joan's sensitivity to children's needs and capabilities suits us well with our children's programs. However, Joan's extensive knowledge of etiquette and decorative design are major contributions to all of our cultural programs for children and adults alike. Once Joan's children were raised, she found herself alone and in search of a new direction. Within our organization, Joan excels as Secretary-Treasurer, maintainer of our growing paperwork load, and historical record-keeper. Her diversified nature and talents bode within our organization and set the right balance on our Board of Directors.

Clara Salamone
Clara Salamone, our Administrator, is our businesswoman. Having been a career businesswoman since leaving school, Clara demonstrates the kind of persistence that gets a job started and finished on time, in the best possible way. Clara has spent years working with and for doctors medical professionals, and major corporate managers. She organized and ran her own collection agency, and has been recognized as a business expert by many Eastern Shore businessmen. As President of Foundation, Clara has moved us forward both in program structuring and financial matters. She serves dauntlessly, and looks with great excitement to bringing cultural programs to our children and to the coordination of professional programs for community enjoyment.

Clara Ann Fischer
Ann Fischer was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and a graduate of Stevensville High School, class of 1949. She is on the Board of Directors for Camp Wright for the past ten years. She was also on the Board of Queen Anne's Chorale. She lives in Hillsboro and is still active in her families businesses.
