I stayed at the Econo Lodge in Goose Creek, SC near Charleston. The Motel sits directly across highway 52 from the CSX mainline. Most of the rooms should have a view, save a few closest to the lobby. It is a classic motel with access from the outside, not an inside hallway. The motel is a rectangle oriented at a 90 degrgee angle from the highway/railroad. I would recommend the second floor, north side and try to get the 4th or greater room back down the hall. There is a huge open field to the north allowing a fairly unrestricted view of the tracks. It was possible for me to sit in a chair with the shades open and see trains. The pool area sits out front along highway with nice view of tracks.
I would not give the accomodations and quality of the motel in general a huge thumbs up. Not much more than a Motel 6, except had a small refridgerator in the room and decent cable. But for a night it cost 49 bucks, and the trains were free.
