The front of the hotel is very close to the NS tracks but only 1 or 2 rooms actually look out over the tracks - the rest of the rooms are in the back part of the hotel. This is a nicely restored hotel run as a bed & breakfast with a terrific restaurant but it is not for the railfan on a budget. I gave it a "C" for "View and/or Railfan Amenities" only because the trains may not be frequent enough for the diehard railfan and if you stay there (presumably with that "special someone"), you would be enjoying the ambiance and great food and would probably be reluctant to run outside when the trains roll by. Also, be prepared to hear air horns blasting during the night if you stay there - there are crossings on both sides of the hotel.

This establishment resides along Norfolk Southern's (ex-CR) Port Road Branch, which has quite a bit of traffic between the hours of 6 PM and midnight each day. This is due to the Amtrak operating window at the south end of the line in Perryville, MD. All freight on this line with the exception of trains to/from Lancaster must use the NE Corridor.
