Another trackside Bed & Breakfast on the NS (Former CR) Pittsburgh Divison between
Altoona and Johnstown PA. The Tunnel Inn is located at the mouth of the Alleghany
Tunnel next to the NS Mainline and the Jackson Street overpass. Since construction
of the new bridge - there are camara portals for us railfans. Both East/Westbound
trains can be seen from the comfort of your room or from the outdoor railfan deck in
the rear of the inn. The accomadations are excellent - A/C and Cable TV provide a
relaxing break between railfanning in the Horseshoe Curve Area. The innkeeper is
very nice and friendly, and always willing to talk on the subject of Railroads.

For those railfans that love the sounds of GE and EMD Locomotives (Espically the SD40-2's
Helper Sets) in Run-8, then The Tunnel Inn is the place to stay. Amtrak's Three Rivers
and Pennsylvanian Long Distance trains can be seen daily from the inn. Most of the
Head-End units feature the new Acela type paint scheme. I go there about 4 times a year,
