In addition to trains on the NS Southern Tier Line, Hornell is served by the all-ALCO shortline, Western New York & Pennsylvania. The WNYP line connects with the NS at Cass Street interlocking, a few hundred yards from the Comfort Inn and WNYP crews occasionally lay over at the Inn.
The WNYP currently comes to Hornell on an infrequent basis, but that will change early in 2006 when a new interchange track is completed (with a $230,000 state grant) on the site of the former EL Yard in Hornell. Hornell is also the home of the Alstom, Inc. facility which builds transit equipment and locomotives. Currently Alstom is using the WNYP to test diesels it is building for NJ Transit. Testing will be going on throughout the fall of 2005.

The Comfort Inn, Hornell, NY is close to the NS southern tier line. I have been there before and it's a nice place within a block of the tracks.
