The views from the rooms are limited to non-existent, but it is very near the summit east of Abo Canyon and you can hear both eastbounds and westbounds running in 'run 8' as they pass by the old Mountainair station. This is an old motel (late 40's?), but is very clean and has modern conveniences. If one is paralleling the BNSF transcon and wants a place to stop for the night, this is a good place. I have stayed there many times since 1995. Reservations are suggested (by me) since it is popular with BNSF workers when they are working in the area. There are new owners who are putting some serious money into the place.
