Recently stayed at the Days Inn in Alliance, Ne and discovered you can watch BNSF movements on the north end of the BNSF South Yard if you get a room on the second floor of the south side of the building, which would be the front. It is somewhat distant across a field but easily seen thru a telephoto lens. They also have free wireless internet access.
