If you plan to stay at this hotel, make your reservations well in advance!
The Holiday Inn is often booked, as are the other (non-trackside) motels in this area.

Request a trackside room as high as possible (see below for suggestions) to allow
for the best viewing. Since the photos were taken the trees have been removed.
The rate at this hotel averages $99.00 per night, however during the peak foliage and
festival season, other rates may apply at non peak times. Check the hotel
or visit www.cumberlandmdholidayinn.com for details and possible railfan specials.
The hotel hosts Harrigans Restaurant it is one of the better places to dine in Cumberland.
Not overly fancy or pretentious, but Cumberland is the land of junk food, pizza and
take-out. The hotel also offers a small pool that is open during the summer months.

If you feel the need to stretch your legs after a long day, stroll over to the Amtrak Station.

Its a great place to sit and watch trains, the locals are very friendly and will engage in
a good conversation.

Queen City Drive and trees separate you from the tracks. The trees have been trimmed in
the recent years at the request of the Holiday Inn. (The staff values the trainwatcher)
Trackside Rooms are odd numbered. Some 2nd and 3rd floors may have views restricted views.
For a sure view, ask for 4th, 5th or 6th floor, you can get by with some lower numbered
rooms on the lower floors.
