This location is about 7 miles south of Cumberland city, just beyond Cressaptown. The CSX line to Keyser, WV, passes behind motel about 1/2 mile across field. This is the former B&O Main to St.Louis which has been severed and now serves mainly as a feeder for coal traffic originating in West Virginia. Not as exciting as the downtown Holiday Inn, but definitely cheaper! Single occupancy 7/4/2002 was $48.40 incl tax. (It was just too damn hot to camp out!)

You can see trains from the room if you have a room in the rear/lower level. It's sort of a duplex place and I'm not sure if the front/upper level rooms have rear windows. It's across an open field, and you are sort of elevated so you would have a clear view of the line even if there were crops in the field. There is a nice ridge of hills in the background. The line actually is running north-south here, and you are looking almost due east, so the light is best in the PM, but traffic is not heavy so it's a matter of luck.
