A Hilton Garden Inn was built last year in West Lafayette, IN, near the Wabash River. The NS and CSX mains are across the river in Lafayette and run directly alongside it. A pedestrian bridge crosses the river and the tracks. Its west entrance is right at the hotel. Although, I haven't been in the hotel, I'm sure the tracks can be easily seen from the upper floors. Just ask for a room facing east.
