Stayed 8 days in 2002. Less than 50 feet west across parking lot is UP line that carries Coast Starlight and San Jose Amtrak trains, Altamont Commuter Express, at least 6 to 8 freights daily.

Sound-reducing wall between parking lot and track blocks view from floors 1 and 2, partly obstructs view from top floor (3rd). A couple of end rooms (hard to get) have good view of track (south best, first floor ok). But lots of train sounds day/night; trains in both directions blow for adjacent crossings as they pass hotel. Excellent photo site from south end of hotel parking lot (trains blow for adjacent crossing on curve), other good photo sites in walking distance (try embankment running across bay marsh less than a mile north in Alviso). Get west-facing or end rooms only. Rooms at this chain only accommodate 2 people, full kitchen (very handy).
