Ask for the track side of the hotel (there is a "bay view side but it is 20 dollars more and you can't see the trains). Ask for a room on the upper floors (5th or above) you can then see the signal aspects and from CP Shellmount to CP West Emeryville (which sits right acroos from the hotel). Most of the rooms have stove, microwave, fridge, coffee maker. Staff was warm and friendly and "understand" wanting to be on the train side.

I did not stay here but observed the following: It's adjacent to the Amtrak Emeryville train station, served by Amtrak's #5 and #6 (California Zephyr), plus the Capitols and the Starlight. Rooms on the west side of the hotel look out across San Francisco Bay to SF and the Golden Gate. Rooms on the east side look at the Emeryville Station and the UP main line. There may also be views of rail activity in the Port of Oakland from both sides of the hotel.
